 - 250 ml (or 1 cup) water (preferably moon water)
 - 200 grams (or 1 cup) of sugar
 - +/- 1 cup dried rose petals

Tools & Utensils

 - 1 non stick pan

 - silicone spatula

 - 1 strainer

 - A glass jar for storage

Ingredients

In this recipe you learn two diffrent things!

You learn how to make simple syrup(sirupus simplex) and an infusion with herbs/flowers and water.

This recipe will describe how making rose infused syrup, but you can swap rose for any other dried herb/flower you want!

If you leave out any herbs/flowers you are basicly making sirupus simplex. It's what we use in the pharmacy as a base for cough-syrups. If you infuse your water with elderflower(sambucus nigra) you can make a natural cough-syrup yourself.

(this is at your own risk, be carefull with a persistent cough. If your cough doesn't get better after 1 week using home-remedies it can be a sign for allergies/asthma/pneumonia. Always see a doctor when you're not sure.)

I will  use this syrup in my home-made lemonade for the Beltane-picknick I'm organising next week.

I hope you enjoy this recipe and if you make it at home, send me a picture via my instagram so I can feature you!

Recipe

(fully vegan or with vegan options)

Step 1

Add your water and rose petals in the pan, put the heat on high.

Step 2

Bring to a boil and immediately lower the heat to medium/low. (The petals will lose their color, that’s normal!)

Step 3

Let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes and then sift the liquid.

Step 4

Put the rosewater-infusion back on the stove and add the sugar

Step 5

Bring to a boil and again, lower immediately to medium/low heat, keep stirring the entire time.

Step 6

Let it simmer until it gets a little bit sticky and a syrup-like consistency.

Step 7

Let it cool for about 15 minutes and fill your jar. Use in lemonades, fizzy-waters, cocktails,… Enjoy!

Thank you, stay healthy and blessed be!
